In a mass-produced world where design products – real or fake – are creating a homogenised world – do we all want the same interior products?

Is the rise of replica furniture creating a renaissance of handmade pieces with local designers, artisans and craftspeople?

Are consumers seeking out bespoke products in retaliation to a homogenous interior landscape created by the glut of mass-produced design products and the burgeoning copy design market?

Local designers, artisans and master craftspeople are now the new order in interior design.

Handmade and made-to-order furniture, lighting and objects are now sought by discerning buyers – who see bespoke products as future heirlooms, heritage pieces that are made with love.

Four Australian design brands speak of the return to slow and thoughtful design and craft, and the importance of producing meaningful pieces in a world obsessed with consuming more ‘stuff.’
