Artist Klaus Haapaniemi & designer Mia Wallenius gained widespread acclaim for the debut carpet & tapestry collection for Brit design brand Established & Sons in 2011, with a design approach influenced by nature, Finnish folklore, & fantasy, delivering traditional decorative arts with a distinctly contemporary twist!

Aside from the Klaus Haapaniemi textile collection, the duo also work in furniture, fashion, books, events & exhibitions, often collaborating with other designers and studios to create limited edition design pieces.

Their newest offering is a series of three  carpet designs that feature The Cosmic Vortex & Unity of the Natural Universe. Exhibited at Pyhaniemi Manor House, Finland, the designs are part of the universe first seen in HEL YES! Stockholm in February 2012. The muted colour palette is inspired by earthy nordic arts&crafts textile designs and the detailed patterns are premium tufted in Varanasi, India of hand dyed wool yarns.

The Purple Haze is a modern interpretation of an age old subject - The horse

The design of the rya is based on a large scale print first shown over 5 years ago in a Klaus Haapaniemi’s first solo exhibition in Seoul, Korea. It shows a herd of horses galloping out of birch trees in a darkening forest. It is a hypnotic and surreal vision and the details of the decorative patterns remind the viewer of traditional Finnish handcrafts, sometimes used to describe aurora borealis in Sami art.
