Lee Broom‚Äòs¬†Crystal Bulb¬†pop-up shop was the SNAP highlight from this month’s¬†London Design Festival!
The Rivington Street location normally functions as Lee Broom’s studio, with a gallery space below which showcases his furniture and lighting collections. For the duration of the festival the studio was transformed into a typical Shoreditch shop, with lighting displayed in apple crates, jars and vintage scales, and the sawdust covered floor cements the feeling the shop has been there for decades, not days!
Lee celebrated the festival with a good old fashioned ‘sing-a-long’ – with Magic Betty belting out pub favourites on the upright piano, and collective guests united in song!
Last year awarded Elle Decoration Designer of the Year in The Britih Design Awards, Broom’s Crystal Bulb made its debut at Milan’s Ventura Lambrate in April, and has now been officially in the UK launched for London Design Festival.
Crystal Bulb is currently shortlisted for this year’s British Design Awards, recognised as it harnesses the industrial process involved to create a decorative object. The hand-cut lead crystal transforms the everyday lightbulb into something worth celebrating as the traditional pattern casts wonderful shadows. Illuminated by a replaceable LED bulb, the light shows off its eco-credentials.
