Japanese design collective YOY caught our attention at the Salone Satellite emerging designer pavilion at the official Rho Fiera  exhibition centre with PEEL (below), exhibited last year. The wall light appears as if a corner of a wall were peeling and light was leaking therefrom. The wafer thin OLED light source enables a flush fixing to the wall.

Again the collective toyed with optical illusion, making another standout appearance at Satellite 2013 with CANVAS –  a canvas bearing images of an armchair and sofa leaning casually against a wall – that when sat in, can comfortably bear the weight of anyone fascinated enough to engage with the object!

Part decorative, part functional – it seems the design duo are destined for big things on the global design scene!!
