Considered a revolutionary seating concept, the original bean bag, designed by Piero Gatti Cesare Paolini and Franco Teodoro, became a 2oth century design icon. Launched by elite Italian furniture brand Zanotta in 1968, ‘Sacco’ was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1970, the design equivalent of an Oscar – so it’s little wonder Sacco graces permanent design collections of many museums, including MoMa, Vitra Design Museum, and the V&A.

Belgian carpet brand Casalis have extended their woollen wares to include ‘Summer’, a 21st century take on the bean chair concept. Adopting the trend for over-scale knitted furnishing accessories, the three-dimmensional elasticized kid mohair cover holds its form, whilst moulding to the users body form. /
