Using the same 3D-technology used to create his fashion collections, Japanese fashion designer¬†Issey Miyake‘s lighting range for iconic Italian lighting brand Artemide fuses the Japanese tradition of light with Miyake’s unique ability to translate traditional forms and techniques into contemporary objects. ¬†the 3-D technique enables each piece in the collection to be flat-packed, minimising the volume of the package for freight, and the products remaining readily expandable, retaining the intended form created by the design once the user self-assembles.
The light shade is constructed from 100%recycled materials Рa re-treated fibre made from recycled PET plastic  bottles that defuses light in intriguing ways  - the material claimed to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40% when compared to the production of new materials.
The IN-EI range was launched at the 2012 Milan Furniture Fair and is soon available from Artemide.
