The collaboration between Brit artist Damien Hirst and New York-based skate brand Supreme remains divisive. Hirst’s iconic Spot paintings and Spin splatter paint series are graphically transposed onto skate decks, seen by many as a cop-out!¬†Either way, it’s a smart co-branding move by Supreme for the massive attention the initiative continues to gain.¬†Check the comment stream below the YouTube link below, that VIDEO accompanied the launch of their 2009 collaboration.
Now the collection of eight deck designs are being re-released this month, via Hirst’s publishing company Other Criteria, no doubt reigniting the furore surrounding decks being skated vs being hung on the wall – begging the question – who will buy a Hirst deck to skate, and who will buy the deck to hang on the wall ……?
